routine matters and his appointment would secure

greater continuity of policy. We consider that the

creation of this new post would increase the

efficiency of the administration of the department.

2. We concur in Mr. Saver's recommendations

that the post should carry a salary of £600 to £700

but we suggest that the increments should be of £20

and not of £10 as suggested by him. We accept

Ar. Saver's view that a suitable officer to fill

the post can be obtained locally.

SECTION VII.

GENERAL COST.

1. It may be convenient to sum rise the

proposals which we have made in order to give

a clearer idee of the total expense involved.

2. The new posts which we have recommended

are as follows :-

TREASURY (Section I)

Deputy Treasurer, (Cadet Officer) £760. to £1,200.

Chief Accountant, £1,000 to £1,200.

Assistant Cashier, £250 to £365.

If these posts are filled in 1929 supplementary

provision under the Treasury Estimates will be

required for the salary of the Chief Accountant, and

under Senior Clerical and Accounting Staff Estimates

for the Assistant Cashier. No additional provision

will be required in 1929 for the Cadet Officer.

REGISTRY, SUPREME COURT. (Section II).

Deputy Registrar, £600 to 2800.

A Chartered Accountant to fill one of the

posts of Deputy Registrar for which provision is

already
